Wonder by R. J. Palacio

Isabella Santoro, Journalist

Auggie Pullman is a wonderful character to read about. Told in the point of view of a child with a facial deformity. This novel tells the story of Auggie’s struggles with being “different” from his peers. For the first time, as a 5th grader, he goes to public school. There he meets foes and friends who teach him great lessons about what really counts. That it’s not what’s on the outside that matters, it’s your character and who you are on the inside that does. Though more of a book meant for younger children, people of any age can read this book and cry at Auggie’s accounts of his life.
