I thought the Tim O’Brien visit was very interesting. Hearing his first hand accounts of the war in vivid descriptions was very different than when I’ve heard other veterans speak about their accounts. When he spoke, he made you feel something through his passion and feelings about what he was speaking on. Hearing him speak was very eye opening. I enjoyed the stories he told about letters written to him because it spoke to how important the stories he wrote are to those. One of my favorite stories he told was about how the war never ends, no matter if you were a soldier, a parent of a soldier, the son, the daughter, the girlfriend or boyfriend. He made me, someone who doesn’t really know anything about the war, feel more understanding of the experiences others have had to it. I really agreed with his comments about putting your body where your rhetoric is and if you are so passionate or for something, then join the movement, whatever that may be. I felt as though that personally resonated with me because that is my mindset with my career. Overall, his visit to our school was very intriguing and moving. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
