Many of us know Mrs. Joyce as an 8th grade ELA teacher, however, she decided it was time for a change. Moving to the High School this past year was not only a change, but also a jump as she is currently teaching 11th and 12th grade. Maria Herrera sat down with her for a short interview.
1.Overall, how are you enjoying PHS?
“I love PHS I love being here I love the staff and students. I love being able to teach the 11th and
12th grade.”
2.How many years have you been teaching or working in education?
“This is my 17th year, I was 15 years at the middle school and prior to that I did 1 year at
Bartram High School in West Philadelphia.”
3.What subject are you currently teaching?
English Language Arts
4.What courses bring you joy when teaching?
“ Since I am able to teach 11th and 12th grade the thing I like most is being able to teach
5.What is your teaching philosophy or mantra?
“I basically just come in everyday with the intention of having a good time and making sure the
students enjoy coming to class and want to learn English.”
6.Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“I see myself at PHS teaching 11th and 12th grade.”
