It doesn’t go unnoticed that our school has hired a great deal of new faculty over the last few years. Our “Teacher Feature” this week is all about Ms. Wilson! Lance Myers sat down with her to get the inside scoop!

Q: Overall, how are you enjoying teaching at Ponaganset?

A: I really like it, a lot. The kids are great, the teachers are great, and the overall atmosphere of the building is wonderful.

Q: How many years have you been teaching or working in education?

A: This is my third full year

Q: What courses are you currently teaching?

A: Physical Science Honors and CP, and Bio CP

Q: What brings you joy as a teacher?

A: Student success and watching the “light bulb” go off in students after they’ve been working at something for some time.

Q: What is your teaching style and philosophy?

A1: I would say my teaching style is trying to make things either applicable to things that students already know so they can make connections to the real world and making things as hands on as possible.

A2: My philosophy of teaching would be that all students can learn no matter their background or their interest in science, it just has to be relevant to their lives, I think…

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A: I see myself doing exactly what I’m doing now because I love what I do and I love what I teach.

Q: What are some hobbies you enjoy?

A: I don’t want to just say watching television.. I really enjoy being outdoors and trying new foods, especially pizza.

Q: What are some of your pet peeves when teaching?

A: Being interrupted only because I can easily lose my train of thought and I get out of rhythm.
